I swear the lyrics to Lana Del Rey’s Blue Velvet popped in my head as I type out this very sentence. Just hearing the melody to that track sends me into a musical state of euphoria which I’ll probably never recover from (still in a trance as I type this). Velvet seems to be a hot trend this fall (and winter) season in terms of footwear, bodysuits, blazers and even dresses. During my trip to Toronto this past September, I was just in time to check out the new Nordstrom location over at  Eaton Center where I nearly passed out due to the fact that there was a Nike pop-up shop across from LOEWE. As I was walking out the door with a Nike shopping bag on my arm, my eyes became fixated on a pair of blue velvet booties. After wiping the drool from my mouth, I came to find that they were by Steve Madden, a retailer that never fails when it comes to creating innovative footwear for both men and women. The heel was intimidating at first but I was proven wrong for they fit true to size and didn’t make my ankles feel weak… surprisingly. Did I mention that they make your legs look sleek as %4@*? As Edmonton transcends into the cold winter season, it’s only fitting that these blue babies make an appearance in an OOTD, right?! I paired them up with a long knit bomber jacket, dark wash denim while a black bodysuit is worn underneath. What’s cool about these boots is that they can be worn with any neutral colours such as black, grey, navy and even brown. While shooting this look, God decided to not rain, but snow on this fashion parade. Great, now I’m really starting to feel blue.  JKJK =)

What are your thoughts on today’s blue velvet look?
