Dapper Fly

cole

It’s been a while since I have done a recap. Whenever a local event pops up, I do my absolute best to be in attendance to show support, especially in the art, music, and fashion scene. A couple of Saturday’s back, I attended the Dapper Fly event hosted by Art State Of Mind. I remember pulling up to the ERAS Hip Hop Showcase they did with PaymeTHRUART this past November and it was so dope seeing the community come together to celebrate past eras of hip-hop culture. Now the purpose of Dapper Fly  is to 1.) Support the local fashion, art, and music scene 2.) Showcase artists of color and 3.) Get people to come out, support and well, look dapper!  I kinda knew goin in that attendees were going to serve both dapper and fly looks so ya girl had to come thru and serve it up. I threw on my PARKSHOP fanny pack, charged up my camera and threw on my Air Jordan Chicago 1’s all to indulge in a night of local vibes. Upon entering the venue at London Villas, my eyes were blessed by paintings of Jay-Z, J.Cole, and Kanye West while rows of chairs were set up in the middle of the venue. The show started off with a fashion show featuring local brands Outro Clothing, Amour Apparel Shop and Vanquish Clothing. Local painter Natalie Meyer of Indah, shut the show down with her body paint on her beautiful models who blessed viewers with their tribal dances. And of course what’s a fashion event without some musical entertainment? The evening ended with performances by K-Riz, Muta, Oozela, Karimah, GrayJoey Durt and Jessica Holtby. Overall, the evening was a dapper one and shout out to Art State of Mind for bringing out the city’s most talented creatives. It definitely serves as a reminder to support local, Edmonton is on the come up!

Enjoy the recap!
