“Don’t call it a comeback, I been here for years.”
No, do not hit me with that Drake mixtape title. Think of LL Cool J when he lyrically spazzed on his infamous Mama Said Knock You Out. And if you don’t know know that song, stop what you’re doing and click here. What makes the song so iconic was LL’s ability to rap with confidence and look fresh to death while doing so. The red Kangol Bermuda hat and Jordan’s pays homage to him posted up on the cover of Radio where he sports both a red Kangol hat and Air Jordan Bred 1’s. Clearly I went with a different but OG colorway for the shoe game, the Air Jordan 1 Rebel XX. The Jordan 45 Bulls jersey on the back symbolizes an iconic basketball player who reminded us to never finish what we started, hence why he returned to the game in 1995.
Now don’t get me wrong, there are times where I want to give up this platform due to lack of motivation and thinking that there’s no hope. We all have those days where we don’t feel like pushing through and we keep it off social media to avoid judgement. In those moments, I take a few minutes to reflect on my creative journey and the skills I had to acquire along the way. From building this blog from the ground up, taking media marketing courses, coming up with concepts for a shoot, what to write about in a post, what to do for Youtube, the list never ends. All while working a full-time and fast-paced corporate job while trying to find the energy to do what I love creatively. Its moments where we have to reflect on how far we have come and to acknowledge the fact that in order to achieve our dreams, there are going to be hurdles on the way that will determine how strong we are. So I encourage you all to listen to that LL track and envision yourself flying like Jordan to achieve whatever dreams you have. Hell, I’m doin it right now as I type this.
Stay blessed ya’ll!
