With wellness culture on the rise, it not only has become beneficial to our medical health, but to a variety of health’s that we sometimes forget to acknowledge. From spiritual health, physical health mental health, emotional health, environmental health and intellectual health. Dang, that’s a lot of healths to look after! And even better, it has crept over to our timelines and explore pages on social media. Since cannabis became legalized in Canada, cosmetic companies, athletic brands, social media bloggers/gurus and entrepreneurs have been sharing their experiences with cannabinoids aka CDB.
Okay now before we go any further into this post, let’s break down two words cause you’ll be seeing them a bit throughout this post: CBD and THC.
CBD (also known as cannabidiol) is a chemical compound found in the cannabis plant. It’s used in products such as oils and edibles to provide feelings of relaxation and calmness. It is not psychoactive whereas THC is.
THC (tetrahydrocannabinolis) psychoactive and is responsible for the high that cannabis provides. As more information is collected about CDB, public opinion changes as well as bridging the wellness gap. I personally haven’t tried any products with CBD but then suddenly, a wave curiosity stung me.
I was casually scrolling through Instagram and came across a wellness page called Birch + Fog, a Canadian based wellness brand that sells CBD-infused products. From skincare, edibles and concentrates. They were kind enough to send a few products over for ya girl to review! So far, we are coming up to one week so why not share my experience with three CBD infused products as well as discuss the benefits of each. Check them out below!
I started my experience with edibles while on a flight to Los Angeles with my best friend and honestly, it wasn’t the greatest. Considering the fact that we both don’t take edibles, especially before a flight (seriously, never again). After cannabis became legalized in Canada. I knew very little about edibles and wanted to put my tolerance to the test. I researched the types of edibles and had no idea they came in so many varieties, from popcorn to drinks. I never tried the gummies so I went on a whim and decided to try the Buudabomb Cannabis Infused Watermelon Blast gummies. From reading the reviews and going through the Use Chart on Birch + Fog, these gummies are quite potent (250mg THC) and should be taken slowly. If you’re a lightweight like me, I highly recommend eating only half for it takes about 45 minutes for the high to kick in. The flavor is unbelievably good and doesn’t have that cannabis taste to it. Definitely worth trying!
If you have a low tolerance for pain (inflammation, bruises, back pain, muscle aches and joint pain), then this is the balm for you! This balm contains 300mg of CBD, consists of essential oils that help open up pores and tackle the pain head on. The Vitamin E and the indica seed butter is what moisturizes the skin and helps heal the scars. For my ladies who experience menstrual cramps and endometriosis, there’s a cure for that! No more hot water bottle and healing pad on the abdomen. You simply rub it on your abdomen, or wherever you feel the most pain, and it gives off a cooling effect and numbs the pain within 10 minutes. And it smells so good too!
Okay quick disclaimer, this product is not CBD-infused. However, you can still get it on B+F and ya’ll, I kid you not, this serum saved my life! This serum will hydrate your skin all day and provide the balance it needs, even while you sleep. It contains plant-based oils to tackle acne which I was skeptical of because let’s be honest, I’ve tried every skincare product at this point and nothing has worked. What’s cool about this serum is that the liquid is black and becomes translucent when you rub your face with it. For someone with combination skin, the serum is not too oily and doesn’t make the skin sweat with product. To get quick results, I apply the serum twice a day and go makeup-free like my good sis, Alicia Keys.
